Welcome to the new Government Digital Service Technology blog. GDS has been actively blogging since it first began but as we've grown it's become clear that there's more we can do to explain the nitty gritty of how we build, assemble and run software.
As GDS we're responsible for building and running a wide variety of projects and platforms notably: GOV.UK, Performance Platform, Identity Assurance and Individual Electoral Registration. We're also working in a variety of ways with other parts of the UK government to help them transform their services to be digital by default and have plenty of other projects on the go.
This blog will be where we get into the details of how we're building the software and supporting services for all those projects. It's where the technologists at GDS (developers, web operations engineers and architects) will explain the patterns and techniques we're using, the problems we're working on, some of the choices we're making and the overall approach we take.
We've got quite a few topics lined up to write about over the next few weeks, but we're also very interested to hear any questions that the wider community may have about our projects, code or approach. If you have questions please use the comments or ask me on twitter (@jystewart) and we'll do our best to respond to them in future posts.
If working with us sounds good for you, take a look at Working for GDS - we're usually in search of talented people to come and join the team.
